Issue No 1 of EVENTS met with
such a warm welcome from
the public that we – the people
in charge of its publication, and
particularly I – were filled with
joy and satisfaction. We received
praise and encouragement far
beyond our expectations.
Of course there were some
constructive criticisms and
comments towards improving
the magazine and we assure
you, we shall do our utmost to
put your views into practice so
far as possible.
In this second issue, we offer
you an article on Iran’s rights
over the Caspian Sea. It deals
with the history of the region,
how the rights over this great
lake, that at one time belonged
to Iran entirely, came to be
shared with Czarist Russia and
later with the USSR, and on
what Iran’s rights over this Sea
should be at present.
Assyrians living in Iran, their
history and their present
conditions, will certainly interest
all Christians worldwide,
Assyrians in particular. Assyrians
have always contributed to
the Iranian civilization and
have been active members
of the Iranian community.
Unfortunately, they have
been migrating rapidly to
the other parts of the world
in recent years. This article
is a first attempt – an initial step – towards our objective
of encouraging those of our
minorities who remain, to stay;
and those who have left, to
return.
What is known as kaakh-egolestan,
Golestan Palace, is
in fact a complex comprising
a number of palaces built at
different periods of history, all
around one single court. At
present each palace houses
many beautiful objects of art,
or objects that are reminiscent
of a wonderful past, or that tell
much about Iranian culture and
folklore, or…. The Palace is a
marvel to any tourist visiting
Tehran.
Edward Browne was an
Englishman who taught the
Persians how to evaluate and
criticize Persian literature. He
was also the first person ever
born to write a history of Persian
literature. The Iranian nation
shall always remain indebted to
this great scholar.
There are also other articles,
such the one on e-insurance,
that do not concern Iran or
Iranians only and may be of
interest to many people.
Once again, on behalf of all my
colleagues, I thank you with all
my heart, and hope you will find
the second issue at least as
good as the first. |
